Most DVD recorders have a menu rather complicated, it will be difficult without seeing a TV, what they do. But not impossible, so I think that you do not, you really need the TV - but if it helps.

It should be noted that many of the new DVD recorders for things such as protection against the copying of Macrovision and other systems for the video stream, and when they burn they do not see.

Is this a recorded VHS tape that he himself (with video) camera, there should be no problem.

If it is a VHS tape of a recorded program is probably a job well done, but hides some protection against copying schemes, "Copying is not permitted in the codes hidden portion of the video source.

If it is a VHS tape about a movie or program that has sold to a retail outlet, then you are probably not able to be incorporated in a modern DVD recorder.

Some recorders are available, the "Macrovision free" and so on - which probably is not technically legal to sell or use, but turn the search on the netup. I do not know whether you can replace all forms of protection against copying or a little more specific methods of Macrovision.

Interesting question. I assume you are one of the last people who have no television. . . ;)

I've never used one of these things, but should be good.

No, you do not have a television.

Some good brands of DVD and VHS would be Sony, Sanyo, Philips, Magnavox, Panasonic

Sanyo is the best choice.
